RESOLVED – That permission be GRANTED in accordance with the recommendation of the Chief Officer Economy and Planning as set out in (COEP63/2023) subject to additional condition. Note 1 Decision subject to Welsh Water consultation response on foul drainage arrangements for the site.
The Head of Development Management introduced the report. He informed Members that the long standing caravan park which conformed to the policies for this type of facility was not in a special landscape area. The application was to extend the site to offer alternative types of accommodation including glamping pitches. These alternative types of accommodation were not considered to be obtrusive in the landscape which was currently well screened, with further landscaping planned. There was no objection raised initially by Welsh Water although it was unclear if the development would connect to the public sewer. Councillor Frank Hemmings (Local Member) spoke in favour of the application. RESOLVED – That permission be GRANTED in accordance with the recommendation of the Chief Officer Economy and Planning as set out in (COEP63/2023) subject to additional condition. RESOLVED – That permission be GRANTED in accordance with the recommendation of the Chief Officer Economy and Planning as set out in (COEP63/2023).
The Head of Planning Development Management introduced the report and informed Committee that the application proposal was for the erection of three dwellings on land adjacent to 35 Derwent Crescent, which comprised of hardstanding and housed 11 garages. The proposed development would change the visual impact of the area, however the site which currently had garages on, already stood out in the street scene. It was noted that the separation distances were acceptable. Assurances were given that there would be adequate parking for the proposed houses within the development. The joint local Member (Councillor Corin Jarvis) raised concerns in relation to the loss of parking provision for the surrounding residents, some of whom currently used the area for parking. The joint local Member (Councillor Becca Martin) also raised concerns in relation to potential loss of parking for local residents. She suggested that an area near the site could be considered to provide additional parking spaces. She suggested that a condition could be imposed and requested that the matter be discussed with the Housing and Economy Department. The Officer informed local Members that this request could not be conditioned as part of the planning application process, but urged them to raise their suggestion with the Council’s Housing and Economy Department. RESOLVED – That permission be GRANTED in accordance with the recommendation of the Chief Officer Economy and Planning as set out in (COEP63/2023).
