RESOLVED - (i) That the submission of a response, as set out in Appendix 1 to report COH/34/22, to the current Welsh Government consultation on proposals to extend the notice period required for those who are renting homes in the private sector be approved. (ii) That this matter be dealt with as an urgent item of business in accordance with Section 5 (Rule 5.8.10(e)) of the Council’s Constitution. Reasons for decision (i) To respond to Welsh Government’s requests for comments on the current consultation exercise to finish 24 October 2022. (ii) To ensure that the Council’s response is submitted by the deadline set out by Welsh Government.

The Chief Officer Housing submitted a report (COH/34/22) to provide details of a consultation being carried out by Welsh Government on proposals to improve security of tenure in the private rented sector, by extending the notice period landlords will need to give tenants.
