RESOLVED – That Councillor Jeremy Kent be elected Mayor of the County Borough for the ensuing year.

The Chief Executive read the Notice convening the Annual Meeting of the Council. He reported that apologies for absence had been received from Councillors Trevor Bates, Paul Blackwell, Emma Holland, Malcolm King, OBE, Ronnie Prince, Paul Roberts, Graham Rogers, Paul Rogers, Alison Tynan and Nigel Williams.

In accordance with Section 83 of the Local Government Act (as amended), Councillor Jeremy Kent duly made a Declaration of Acceptance of the Office of Mayor of the County Borough. The Mayor called upon Councillors Mark Pritchard and Councillor David A Bithell to propose and second, respectively, a vote of thanks to the retired Mayoress, Councillor Tina Mannering and her consort Miss Helen Briscoe.
