RESOLVED – T H A T under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Part 4 of Schedule 12A (as amended) of the Act, the relevant paragraphs of the Schedule being referred to in brackets after the minute heading.
RESOLVED – (1) T H A T Mrs. Janet Evans be appointed as an Independent Member to the Standards Committee, the term of office to be for six years respectively to commence from 6th October, 2025, subject to the submission of two appropriate references. (2) T H A T delegated authority be granted to the Monitoring Officer / Head of Legal and Democratic Services in conjunction with the Chair of the Standards Committee to consider and (if deemed appropriate) approve the references received. The Part II Minutes of the Appointment Panel re: Standards Committee held on 19th September 2025 were presented for consideration. The minutes advised that the Panel interviewed eighteen applicants for the position of Independent Member on the Standards Committee. The Monitoring Officer / Head of Legal and Democratic Services provided the Appointments Committee with a verbal update in respect of the interviews that had taken place in respect of the four top scoring candidates, as recommended by the interview panel. Having considered the recommendations of the Appointments Panel re: Standards Committee of 19th September 2025, the verbal update provided by the Monitoring Officer at the meeting and in light of the advice of the Officer regarding the decisions of the Panel, it was subsequently RESOLVED – (1) T H A T Mrs. Janet Evans be appointed as an Independent Member to the Standards Committee, the term of office to be for six years respectively to commence from 6th October, 2025, subject to the submission of two appropriate references.
