Response by Head of Service: Please see below answers to your questions: 1. How many children, entitled to home to school transport, did not receive their school passes before the start of term? All transport applications received during the Admissions Round for September 2025 intake were sent to parents before 21st Aug 2025 – the majority being sent before the end of the school term (July 2025). After that date, we have received a further 190 late applications (some were for next admission round Sept 2026) with the majority being for Post 16 transport which have been processed. 2. How many children had problems accessing the free Home to School transport they are entitled to this week? We do not hold specific detail of learners who experienced issues access transport during the first week of the academic year. As far as PCC is aware, all transport services operated as planned from 2nd September 2025. As part of the delivery of the service, the council issued letters to parents of entitled school transport learners to advise them to log on to their MyPowys Account and to enter the details of their bus pass into the system which would advise them of the times and pickup points for their assigned bus route. As part of the retendering process, some bus routes have changed, some operators will have changed and it was for this reason we advised parent to ensure they were aware of any potential changes. However, we are aware of 2 issues involving learners being transported on local bus service where parents are raising concerns around learners standing on service these buses, mixing with members of the public and the timings are not allowing sufficient time to access the school. The Transport team are working through these issues (Berriew in the north and Sennybridge in the south) and are aiming to resolve before the end of this week.
