Councillor Mogford asked: Your Cabinet announced a doubling of the budget for street signs. I aware that some signs have been replaced, however many signs in our ward (Bishton & Langstone are still on the list. Can you advise and update on the following: 1. What is the total budget for street signs Financial Year 2025/6. 2. What is the current backlog of street signs. 3. How many signs have been replaced so far this year up to e/o August 2025. 4. How much of the budget remains and how many more signs are expected to be replaced this financial year. 5. Who is responsible for setting the priorities regarding which street signs are replaced. 6. Modern street signs seem to be subject to fading to white. What is the life expectancy of a street sign and has any effort been spent in improving this. (I note that a resident in my village repaired a street sign that had become totally white by using black Vinyl letters and many years on this sign is looking pristine) Councillor M Howells responded: The total budget for the replacement of signs for the financial year 25/26 is £60K which consists of £10K council funding and £50K secured as part of Tidy Towns grant funding. The current backlog of replacement signs is 400. Signs are delivered in two batches to achieve economies of scale and reduce costs, allowing more signs to be replaced. 36 signs have been planned for replacement to date and an additional 175 are planned for replacement this financial year. Prioritisation for all highway assets, including street signs, is in line with the HAMP priority will be based on elements such as missing or safety critical defects. All signs comply with the relevant standards or guidance, and the life expectancy of a sign is estimated to be between 10 – 20 years depending upon location.
Rhaid i gynghorwyr ddweud pan fydd ganddyn nhw gysylltiad personol â rhywbeth sy'n cael ei drafod, fel swydd, eiddo neu aelod o'r teulu. Mae buddiant sy'n rhagfarnu yn ddigon cryf i'r cynghorydd adael yr ystafell fel arfer a pheidio â chymryd rhan.
Caiff datganiadau eu darllen o'r cofnodion unwaith y byddan nhw wedi'u cyhoeddi.
