The Cabinet Member for Social Services introduced the report, thanked officers, partners, and Members for their ongoing commitment and work, and acknowledged Members’ continued efforts in championing the agenda. The VAWDASV Regional Lead Advisor then gave an overview of the report. · The Committee praised the work of officers and partners in delivering the VAWDASV agenda and recognised the complexity and emotional demands of this work · The Committee emphasised the importance of recognising that perpetrators and victims can be of any gender and recommended that this be reflected in all communications and training materials. · The Committee requested that future updates clearly report progress on data integration and provide specific examples of how improved data gathering has informed decision-making and impacted service delivery. · The Committee requested that the Cabinet Member follow-up on Member training, including progress and actions to increase completion rates.
The Strategic Director – Transformation and Corporate introduced the report. The Policy and Partnership Manager and the Senior Policy and Partnership Officer gave an overview of the report. · The Committee praised the strong partnership working and the commitment of officers and partner agencies in addressing community safety challenges. · The Committee requested that officers ensure Members are made aware of any perception or engagement surveys so they can help promote participation within their communities. · The Committee requested that future updates include progress on data integration and the impact of improved data sharing and analysis on partnership working and service delivery. · The Committee requested that learning and best practice from other local authorities, such as Cardiff’s approach to Gypsy, Roma, Traveller engagement, continue to be considered and incorporated where appropriate.
a) Draft Annual Forward Work Programme 25/26 The Scrutiny Advisor informed the Committee that the meeting due to be held on 18th February 2026 had been cancelled and would be re-arranged for a future date. The Scrutiny Advisor informed the Committee that the next meeting to be held would be 11th March 2026, with the Safer Newport Community Safety Partnership City Centre Update to be discussed and advised that this meeting would not be recorded for public viewing due to the sensitive nature of the topic. b) Outcomes Monitoring The Scrutiny Advisor informed the Committee of the actions and outcomes that have been completed, and the actions that are currently outstanding over the last six months.
