Ystyriodd Pwyllgor Craffu ar Berfformiad - Partneriaethau Cyngor Dinas Casnewydd gynnydd y Cyngor ar Fframwaith Hyfforddiant Cenedlaethol ar gyfer Trais yn erbyn Menywod, Cam-drin Domestig a Thrais Rhywiol (VAWDASV). Gwnaeth y Pwyllgor saith sylw ac argymhelliad, a fydd yn mynd at y Cabinet i'w hystyried.
Councillor Marshall declared an interest as a former Cabinet Member for Social Services
The Strategic Director – Social Service introduced the report, and the VAWDASV Regional Lead Advisor gave an overview of the report. Members questioned the Officers and Cabinet Member on the content of the report – to access a full recording of the debate and comments made please refer to the Council’s YouTube channel. Comments and Recommendations: • The Committee recommended looking at improving the search function on the NCC website to be able to find relevant information more easily. • The Committee noted the importance of lobbying Welsh Government to increase funding, resources and visibility of services, both through the Cabinet Member and also WLGA to ensure a stronger collective force from multiple sections and make other local authorities aware of the issue, enhancing the lobbying efforts. • The Committee emphasised the importance of prioritising building up trainer cohort within NCC and finding ways to release staff to carry out this role. • The Committee requested more information on intersectionality aspects of training to be included in future reports. • The Committee recommended All-Member training on VAWDASV to be implemented and to monitor the initial uptake. (Democratic Services to arrange with Lead VAWDASV Adviser / Head of Prevention and Inclusion) • The Committee requested that merchandise, such as leaflets and other materials related to VAWDASV, be distributed to Members to aid in raising awareness within their communities. • The Committee wished to provide feedback to the Lead Adviser for VAWDASV managers, praising her for her impressive knowledge, honesty, and command of her role during the meeting.
a) Actions Arising The Scrutiny Adviser informed the Committee of the Actions Arising. b) Forward Work Programme Update The Scrutiny Adviser informed the Committee that the date for the next meeting is: Wednesday 4th February 2025 at 5pm - CONTEST The Committee were advised that would not be recorded for public viewing due to the sensitive nature of the topic. c) Outcomes Monitoring The Scrutiny Adviser informed the Committee of the up-to-date outcomes.
The minutes of the previous meeting held on 23rd October 2024 were accepted as a true and accurate record.
