RESOLVED: That Application No. P2025/0314 - demolition of the existing primary school and Tir Morfa Centre, and construction of a new school with sports pitch, multi use games area, play facilities, highway and access works, plant, substation, sprinkler tank system, surface water drainage scheme, hard and soft landscaping, boundary treatment of varying heights up to a maximum height of 7.4m, cycle store and relocation of existing community garden, cabins and poly tunnel and associated engineering works, at Rhosafan Welsh Primary School, Marine Drive Sandfields, Port Talbot, SA12 7NN, be APPROVED , subject to the conditions, as detailed within the circulated report, and the additional condition, as detailed within the circulated Amendment Sheet.
After welcoming everyone to the meeting, the Chair explained that last week, the Development Management Team provided their Quarterly Survey Statistics back to Welsh Government for April to June 2025. The statistics showed the Council’s best performance in the last 3 years, with 100% of applications being determined in time, with an agreed extension of time. Plus 65% of all applications determined within 8 weeks of validation. The Chair praised the outstanding effort by the Team, and all those associated with the planning process, and as such had felt it important to draw this to Members attention today.
