Resolved that: Members provide any comments/amendments by midday on the 8th December 2023 to the Monitoring Officer.
Apologies for absence were received from Julian John, Co-optee. The Chair welcomed Mrs Pauline Griffiths, newly appointed Co-optee to the meeting.
No Declarations of Interest were received.
The Minutes of the meeting held on 15th December 2023 were received for information as a true and accurate record.

Resolved that: Members provide any comments/amendments by midday on the 8th December 2023 to the Monitoring Officer.
Carys Kennedy, Monitoring Officer referred to the Annual Report 2022 – 2023 and advised that whilst annual reports have been provided previously, they now have to be done as part of the Local Government Elections Wales Act 2021 which in particular relates to the activities of the Standards Committee and Political Leader’s responsibilities for their members to comply with the Code of Conduct. C Kennedy advised that the report was in draft format which needed to be agreed and finalised by Standards Committee, before being reported to Council and then to Ombudsman for Wales, Clarity sought on whether the structure should have membership names. C Kennedy confirmed that the structure would not include names. Clarity sought on when the final version of the Constitution would be approved. C Kennedy updated members on the position and hoped that the final version would be completed by the end of Spring/Early Summer 2024. The Chair referred to the need for an extra paragraph at the bottom of page 15, as the list referred to ‘what we are going to do’, and some of the list had already been undertaken. Resolved that: Members provide any comments/amendments by midday on the 8th December 2023 to the Monitoring Officer.
The Monitoring Officer updated Committee on the position with regard to training with particular reference to joint training opportunities with other local authorities and advised that whilst there is no formal induction for new members, there was more of a mentoring programme where information and guidance and sharing of good practice would be provided as and when needed.
It was agreed that the next meeting of the Standards Committee will be held at 2.00 p.m. on Friday, 15th March 2024.
No other business was deemed urgent by the Chair.
The Monitoring Officer provided a verbal update following the recent Standards Decision.
