RESOLVED: That the Porth Eirias Update Report be noted.
The Cabinet Member for Leisure and Governance Services introduced a report on Porth Eirias and the Programming and Business Services Operations Manager highlighted key points from within the report. In scrutinising the report, Members discussed the following: • Concerns were raised that parking fees should not be used to support business viability. Officers clarified that fees were introduced to manage demand, with income contributing to site running costs. (approximately £25,000 annually). • The commercial aspect and viability of the centre was queried. Officers expressed confidence that the site could return to a balanced budget over time. • A request for a progress report in three months was considered premature; an update would be provided when more information was available. • The utilities costs were overcharged to a tenant, but this was adjusted in the 2024/25 budget. Lease arrangements include payments for utility charges. • Concerns were raised regarding the fairness of toilet provision across the area and the need to ensure adequate provision for those with disabilities. Members were reassured that accessibility has been a key factor in the design of the proposed new facilities. RESOLVED: That the Porth Eirias Update Report be noted.
