RESOLVED that the Country Cars grant be increased to £10,000 for the period 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027.
The Cabinet Member considered a report on proposals that the grant for Country Cars Scheme be increased to £10,000 for the period 1st April 2026 to 31st March, 2027. The allocation for 2025/26 was £7,134. It was reported that the proposed increase represented a rise of 40.17% but it was noted that the current level of funding was significantly lower than comparable support provided by neighbouring counties. This uplift reflected the rising operational costs and was critical to ensuring service continuity. The Cabinet Member was appraised that Country Cars aligned with the Country Council’s Corporate Strategy 2022-27 and supports the well being objectives to: • Enable residents to live independently and age well. • Foster healthy, safe, and prosperous communities and environments. RESOLVED that the Country Cars grant be increased to £10,000 for the period 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027.

The Cabinet Member considered a report detailing the outcomes of the consultation on proposed speed limit changes from 20mph to 30mph, following the National Listening period and subsequent review of road sections requested by the public for reversion to 30mph. It was noted that the process was initiated in accordance with the Cabinet Report dated 28 April 2025, which set out the agreed approach for consultation. Statutory consultees and residents directly fronting the affected road sections were consulted between 1 July 2025 and 16 September 2025. Feedback was received from statutory bodies, elected members, community councils, and residents. Of the 11 road sections reviewed: • 7 locations received sufficient support to proceed with advertising the proposed increase to 30mph. • 4 locations demonstrated significant opposition or raised safety concerns; therefore, no changes were recommended at this time.
