RESOLVED that the proposed Local Lettings Policy for Carmarthenshire County Council new developments at Wauniago, Carmarthen and Caegar, Llanelli, be approved.
The Cabinet Member considered a report to approve a Local Lettings Policy (LLP) for two new Carmarthenshire County Council developments located at: • Wauniago, Carmarthen – 4 homes • Caegar – Llanelli 20 homes The Cabinet Member noted that the new developments at Wauniago, Carmarthen and Caegar, Llanelli together would provide 24 additional homes which would be managed by Carmarthenshire County Council’s Housing Services and Pobl Housing Association. The LLP’s appended to the report had been developed to ensure the creation of sustainable communities from the outset of the new development. The main priorities as stated within the report would be to allocate homes to those with the greatest housing need as well as having a community connection:- • Allocate homes to those in A, B and C with a community connection • Consider allocations to key workers or current tenants under-occupying their homes and are affected by bedroom tax In reviewing the LLP, an overview of the prioritisation allocation, criteria and key workers was provided to the Cabinet Member. In response to a query, the Housing HWB Manager confirmed that the local members for the respective wards had been engaged with and are fully supportive of the LLP’s. Furthermore, an update upon first allocation, would be provided to the Local Members and the Cabinet Member.
