RESOLVED: that (1) the updated Budget Position for 2023/24 at Provisional Settlement Stage be noted (2) the proposed approach to Budget Consultation for 2023/24 be agreed and it be noted that the formal budget consultation will commence on the 23rd December 2022 and run until 29th January 2023. The results of the consultation process will then be considered by Cabinet in preparing their final 2023/24 budget proposal

Councillor Norma Mackie declared a personal interest in this item as a ‘Friend of St David’s Hall’ The Cabinet received a report providing an update on the approach to the Budget 2023/24. The provisional settlement for Local Government was received on 14 December 2022 and Cardiff would receive a 9% increase in Aggregate External Finance which was an improvement on the amount the Council had been planning for. However there was still a predicted budget gap of £23.497 million and the report contained budget proposals for public consultation. These proposals would be supplemented by a range of efficiency savings.
