AGREED that the decisions be received as a true record of proceedings.
AGREED that the report be accepted and the Democratic Services Committee approved the Head of Democratic Services Annual Report 2025/26, having considered the content, ensuring it is consistent with their knowledge and understanding of the wider issues affecting the Council.
AGREED that the report be accepted and the Committee suggested the following amendments to the Elected Member Safety Guide for consideration by Council prior to approval:- (a) guidelines to be established for Elected Members safety when attending larger public events/meetings; and (b) investigations into a ‘buddy scheme’ for Elected Members when making home visits to constituents.
AGREED that the report be accepted and Option 2 be agreed, as follows:- (a) suggested that information be included in the Policy for Elected Members to be aware that commenting on social media, can on some occasions pre determine their decision and would permit them from voting on the matter when its brought to Committee/Full Council meetings; and (b) approved policy be implemented and reviewed in accordance with the review arrangements set out within the policy.
