AGREED that the detailed information in the report be accepted and contributed to the continuous cycle of improvement and self-evaluation by recommending to Cabinet that Cabinet Members take up discussions with Welsh Government to strengthen elected home education legislation and provide appropriate support for Local Authority officers (Option 2).
AGREED accordingly. The Committee further AGREED, subject to the foregoing that the report be accepted and noted the Local Authority’s approach in supporting schools to use this guidance.
It was noted that no requests had been received for the simultaneous translation service.
An apology for absence was received from Councillor Lee Parsons.

Consideration was given to the report of the joint report of the Deputy Chief Executive/Strategic Director for Children, Young People & Families and Chief Education Officer. The Committee AGREED that the detailed information in the report be accepted and contributed to the continuous cycle of improvement and self-evaluation by recommending to Cabinet that Cabinet Members take up discussions with Welsh Government to strengthen elected home education legislation and provide appropriate support for Local Authority officers (Option 2).

Consideration was given to the joint report of the Deputy Chief Executive/Strategic Director for Children, Young People & Families Interim Head of School Improvement. It was proposed and seconded that the mobile device guidance letter to be distributed to schools and parents, be amended to replace the word "ban" with "restricted use" or similar terminology to ensure alignment with Welsh Government recommendations. AGREED accordingly. The Committee further AGREED, subject to the foregoing that the report be accepted and noted the Local Authority’s approach in supporting schools to use this guidance.
