The committee looked at three items. It scrutinised the October 2026 update of the Medium Term Financial Plan, covering the 2027/28 budget gap, school deficits and reserves. It scrutinised the Planning Service Annual Performance Report before it goes to Welsh Government. It also agreed that members' questions on the Health and Safety Annual Report would be sent to officers for answers outside the meeting.

It then scrutinised the draft Road Safety Strategy 2026-2040, questioning officers on enforcement, school travel, e-scooters and how road safety concerns are reported. The minute records no formal decision on the strategy. The committee agreed a separate special meeting on school transport could be held, noted two other possible future topics, and recorded an action to arrange a members' workshop on the Cabinet and Council work planner.
The committee scrutinised three reports: the 2026/27 financial update, the Annual Director's Report for Social Care, and the Safeguarding Annual Evaluation Report. For each, the minute records only that the report was moved after the Chair's summary. It records no other formal decision. The committee also noted the Council and Cabinet work planner and its own work programme, and confirmed earlier minutes.
