The Planning Committee considered three planning applications on 11 July 2024. It granted a roof extension at The Coach House, Llandaff, with a changed window condition, and granted changes to the plans for a multi-storey car park in Butetown, subject to a legal agreement. It deferred a proposal for new flats in Llanishen so that councillors could visit the site.

It granted application 24/00110/FUL for a replacement Willows High School on land off Lewis Road, Splott. It deferred application 23/02265/DCH for a roof extension at The Coach House, Llandaff, so that members could visit the site before deciding.
The Planning Committee met on 11 April 2024. Four councillors sent apologies and no declarations of interest were made. The committee's main decision was to grant planning application 23/01174/FUL for a mixed-use building of up to 28 storeys at Friary House, Greyfriars Road, Cathays, which includes student flats and commercial space. Permission is subject to the applicant entering into a binding Section 106 agreement, a legally binding agreement between the council and the developer.
It granted two applications outright and two more subject to signing a Section 106 agreement, a legal agreement under which a developer agrees to provide or pay for things such as affordable homes or road works. It also noted the decisions made under delegated powers, which let council officers decide applications without a committee vote.

It granted one, a redevelopment of Cardiff East Park and Ride, subject to a binding Section 106 agreement (a legal contract with the developer about planning obligations). It refused the other two: a two-storey extension and two new flats on St Isan Road, Heath, and a 36-home scheme at De Braose Close, Danescourt, on three stated grounds. Two councillors declared interests and left the room for the applications concerned.
The Planning Committee met on 21 December 2023. Its one substantive item was two linked applications to redevelop part of the former Howells department store in St Mary Street, Cathays, and the committee granted both. The minute records the decisions but gives no reasons for them.
Its main item was an application for 36 homes at De Braose Close, Danescourt, which the committee deferred so that officers could draft reasons for refusal. The committee also noted decisions that officers had made under delegated powers.
