It was noted that a report was presented to the Homes and Environment Scrutiny Committee (COH/25/24s) on 19 June 2024 providing an overview of Welsh Housing Quality Standard 2023. The recommendation from that meeting was to provide an update on progress in meeting the standard to the committee in June 2025. It was suggested that this data would demonstrate the need for additional WG funding in order for these new standards to be achieved within the allocated timeframe. · The Local Authority had only been working towards these new standards for 12 months. · Confirmation that a window and door replacement programme was in place with the oldest installations taking priority. A discussion took place that the programme should ensure that properties within the same location were considered as part of the same programme allocation, where appropriate. · A stock condition survey of all local authority owned assets is due to commence shortly. This survey would illustrate which assets, including Council properties, were viable for long term maintenance. · A separate piece of work would take place regarding long term use of garages. · Confirmation that less money had been borrowed last year against the Councils level of stock and income. · It was noted that the Local Authority is using grant funding to carry out an EPC data assessment to ensure energy pathways were accurate, as well as funding the training of 16 Officers internally to carry out EPC’s.
