The Trading Standards and Licensing Lead informed Members of a training session to be held on 10 March, facilitated by James Button, BA, Solicitor, CIoL in respect of decision making and the workings of the Committee. It was noted that this would be a full day training session.
Agenda Items 7 to 8: Members determined in considering these reports that Paragraph 12 should apply. Their view on the public interest test was that to make this information public would disclose personal data relating to an individual in contravention of the principles of the Data Protection Act. Because of this and since there did not appear to be an overwhelming public interest requiring the disclosure of personal data they felt that the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighed the public interest in disclosing the information. RESOLVED - That the press and public be excluded from the Meeting during consideration of the following items of business, as it is likely that, if they were present, there would be disclosure to them of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 12 of Part 4 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).

The Chief Officer Economy and Planning submitted a report (COEP/14/25) to advise Members of the review of Hackney Carriage and Private Hire fees and to seek agreement to the recommendation. Presenting the report the Officer informed Committee that fees were reviewed annually in the autumn with the intention of applying any increase from 1 April the following year. A review had been undertaken in accordance with the Council’s Cost Recovery Policy and it was proposed that there be no increase to licence fees for the coming year commencing 1 April 2025. Members considered the report and during debate further information was requested in respect of the licence fees set by neighbouring authorities. The Officer confirmed that this information would be included in the next report. RESOLVED – That Hackney Carriage and Private Hire fees remain unchanged for the year commencing 1 April 2025.
