RESOLVED - That the Minutes of the meeting of the County Borough Council held on 18 December 2024 be confirmed as a correct record.
The Mayor referred to the sad, recent passing of former Councillor, Deputy Leader and Chief Executive of Wrexham Council, Bob Dutton. On behalf of Council she passed her condolences to Bob’s family and friends. She invited Council to join her in standing for a moments silence as a mark of respect to Bob. The Mayor formally welcomed Alwyn Jones as Interim Chief Executive and stated that she looked forward to working with him. Towards the end of last year the Mayor attended the 10th Anniversary of the re-opening of Plas Madoc Leisure Centre, by Splash Community Trust. The event was very well-attended and demonstrated that the leisure centre was a much-loved and valuable resource in the local community. Under the leadership of Councillor Stella Matthews, the Trust had successfully managed the centre, creating the thriving community hub and the Mayor congratulated all involved. Finally, the Mayor referred to the annual St David’s Day parade which would be taking place in the town centre on Saturday 1 March. The parade was always well supported despite what the weather chose to do. The Mayor anticipated that it will be an even bigger event this year with Wrexham hosting the National Eisteddfod later this year.
