The Mayor referred to two recent special achievements within the Local Authority. Firstly he advised that the Council’s Digital team, part of Governance and Customer, had won the national ‘Granicus Digital Team Achievement Award’. This award recognised the successful implementation of technology for the Children’s Social Care Wellbeing Portal, a hub for families to request help from Council departments and a range of partners, all in one place. Secondly, the Council’s Commissioning, Procurement and Contract Management Unit were successful at the Welsh Go Awards in November 2023. The Unit won the Prestigious Procurement Team of the Year Award. The award focused on how Team working was vital to the success of public procurement, and the power and potential of a focused and unified approach. As a result of the Award, the Unit would now progress to the National Go Awards where they would be considered against the successful candidates from England, Scotland and Northern Ireland with the hope that they would be shortlisted for the Final consideration in May. The Mayor invited representatives from both of those teams to formally receive their award and asked Members to join him in congratulating both the Digital Services and Commissioning, Procurement and Contract Management Teams on these fantastic achievements. The Mayor thanked those Members and Officers who had attended the St David’s Day Parade in the town centre. It had been his honour to be a part of such a special day and to see so many people participating and celebrating Welsh culture and heritage. The Charity Concert at St Giles Parish Church would take place on Friday 12 April 2024 to raise money for the Mayor’s Charity Fund. The concert would feature the Rhos Male Voice Choir, the Sirenian Singers and soloist Rachael Hughes. Lastly, as this was the final scheduled Council meeting before the Annual Meeting of Council, the Mayor thanked Members and Officers for the support they had shown him throughout his term of office.

Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
