The Mayor advised that it was his pleasure to be chairing the first Council meeting of his second term of office and that he was looking forward to the next twelve months. The Mayor took the opportunity to make reference to Special Olympics Wales athlete, Michael Beynon from Chirk. Michael had been selected to be a part of the Great Britain team who would compete at the World Games in Berlin next month and the Mayor, on behalf of Council, wished Michael and the Great Britain Team the very best of luck at the World Games. The Mayor referred to his Civic visit to Church which would be taking place on Sunday, 23 July at St Giles Parish Church. The formal invitations would follow and the Mayor stated that he would appreciate the support of fellow Members. Finally, the Mayor took the opportunity to thank Councillor Brian Cameron and his wife Kerry, for their hard work and dedication during their time as Mayor and Mayoress of Wrexham County Borough.

The Chief Officer Governance and Customer submitted a report COGC/40/23 allowing Members to approve a calendar of meetings for the Council, the Executive Board, Scrutiny and Standing Committees in 2023/24.
