A draft Forward Work Programme Schedule for 2025/26 was attached at Appendix A and Members of the Committee were asked to consider the contents for approval. In addition, the Committee was asked to note the remit of the Resources Scrutiny Committee, as shown in paragraph 1.2 of the report. Councillor Loveluck-Edwards subsequently made the point that a Task and Finish topic regarding working from home may be one where it may be difficult for Members to affect change, given that there was an existing policy in place, which had been agreed by stakeholders such as the trade unions. Officers subsequently provided the following advice in response to questions from the Committee: • The Draft Forward Work Programme was briefer than those used in previous years, in terms of the number of reports which were scheduled to be reported to Committee meetings. This was due to a number of reports now sitting under the remit of other Scrutiny Committees, but was also intentional, so as to encourage more meaningful scrutiny of each item, and to allow agenda space for any additional items which may arise as the municipal year progressed, for example references from Cabinet, or as a result of the Committee’s Task and Finish work. • At this stage, all of Members’ suggestions for Task and Finish topics, including those which may crossover with, or which may eventually sit better within the remit of other Scrutiny Committees would be considered, with a view to Committee refining and prioritising these topics, as Task and Finish work developed. With no further queries or comments, Committee subsequently: RECOMMENDED – (1) T H A T the initial draft of the Forward Work Programme Schedule for 2025/26 (Appendix A to the report) including suggestions for areas for deeper dive Task and Finish review investigations, be agreed. (2) T H A T the remit of the Resources Scrutiny Committee be noted. Reasons for recommendations (1) To agree the items and topics that the Resources Scrutiny Committee will consider for 2025/26. (2) To note the remit for the new Resources Scrutiny Committee.
