There is no summary of this meeting yet. Summaries are written once the council publishes the minutes, which are its official record of what a meeting decided. They usually appear a few weeks after the meeting.
1.1 Apologies were received by Councillors Stuart Ashley, Jon James and Chris Tew.
2.1 There were no interests declared.
3.1 The minutes of the meeting held on 20th May 2026 were confirmed as a true and accurate record.
4.1 4.1 The Team Leader (Planning Applications) presented the report and made the following comments: • The application was for the construction of a garage, and it was being reported to Committee as the applicant was a member of staff of the council. • The property was a detached dwelling set within a residential plot. The existing property had previously been extended and already contained an outbuilding currently used as a garage, which would become a storage area should the proposed garage be approved. • The surrounding area included residential properties to the north and south, a school opposite the site, and a former care home nearby. • The proposal had been amended from its original design due to concerns regarding access points. The revised proposal would attach the garage to the existing extension and utilise the current driveway and tarmacked area. Some of the hardstanding area would be replaced with planters as part of the development. • The proposed garage would be a single-storey structure finished in stone to match the existing dwelling. • The internal dimensions of the garage would allow it to function appropriately for vehicle storage. • Ecological considerations had been addressed through the inclusion of a proposed bird box, which had been deemed acceptable by the Council’s Ecologist as an ecological enhancement measure. • The proposal was considered to sit comfortably within the plot, the existing property, and the wider street scene. • The adjoining neighbour had been notified of the application and had raised no objection. • There were no technical objections to the proposal and it was recommended for approval. 4.2 Members unanimously agreed to approve the application subject to the conditions laid out in the report.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
