4.1 The AH&LO presented the report whilst the TML&TS shared her screen. Following, they responded to Members’ questions as follows:- · TML&TS – During the multi-agency operation, a number of licensed vehicles had minor faults like first aid kits not having the appropriate private hire stickers on them, but advice was given and follow up actions were taken. AH&LO – One vehicle was stopped with a flat tyre, which the driver was able to sort on the roadside; no penalty points given. · TML&TS – In relation to the nine licensed drivers who were complained about for parking in designated Torfaen Hackney Carriage ranks from neighbouring authorities, the information was shared with their relevant local authority. Civil Parking Enforcement were informed and were out and about checking, but they were not able to be everywhere. They carried out proactive inspections and monitored where they could. The overall number of complaints was high but the data did not suggest any particular patterns; they simply had peaks and troughs, but took action where appropriate. · TML&TS – They had a duty to investigate all complaints and did to the best of their ability. There were no figures to hand, but around 90% were genuine complaints, with the rest being considered vexatious. 4.2 The Committee AGREED to: 1. note and comment on the contents of the report, and 2. note the activity report for October 2023 – March 2024.
5.1 The date of the next meeting was confirmed to take place on 26 September 2024 5.2 The meeting ended at 10.15am.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
