The Development Manager presented a ‘for information’ report which detailed the Annual Performance Report. The report is seen by Welsh government as important mechanism for monitoring Local Planning Authorities performance against a key set of national performance indicators. The report is also an important tool for benchmarking the performance of Local Authorities across Wales. The draft report for the period April 2024-March 2025 was detailed at the appendix to the report. The actual performance figures, the improvements achieved over the past few years and the issues to be further addressed were all detailed in the report, along with a series of appeal decisions from applications that decisions had been made on, contrary to officer recommendations. The issues around the level of planning fees allowed currently to be charged, the proposed increases from 1 December 2025, the amount of enforcement action taken and the level of cases still outstanding, staffing levels and the issues around these areas were also detailed in the report and the officers presentation. Members asked questions on various issues relating to the report to which the officer responded.
