Resolved that the Minutes of the Economy & Infrastructure Service Transformation Committee held on 24 July 2025 be approved and signed as a correct record.
The Head of Planning & City Regeneration assisted by the Strategic Economic Regeneration Manager presented an update on the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and emerging information on successor arrangements. It was noted that the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UK SPF) had been implemented regionally in South West Wales with Swansea Council as the lead authority, focusing on local delivery through strategic ‘anchor’ projects aligned with regional economic plans. Despite a rapid setup, the programme had delivered significant economic and community support outcomes, balancing strategic investments with broader community engagement. The transition year 2025/26 continued the approach with reduced budgets, and while future funding remained uncertain it aimed to sustain momentum and adapt the anchor project model. Stakeholder engagement had been comprehensive, and the main risk was losing the progress made without clear post-2026 funding. In response to Member questions, Officers stated that there the £211m budget had been assigned to the whole of Wales with no confirmation of how the budget would be split amongst local authorities. The Chair thanked the Head of Planning & City Regeneration and the Strategic Economic Regeneration Manager for his informative report. Resolved that the update report be noted.
