The Deputy Leader added that she was incredibly pleased to announce that a number of veterans and organisations from Rhondda Cynon Taf have been announced as finalists in the 2026 Welsh Veterans Awards, recognising their outstanding contribution to the Armed Forces community. The Deputy Leader added that RCT Council is fortunate to have built such close and positive relationships with the veteran community, including many of this year’s finalists. The Deputy Leader explained that in addition, the Cynon Valley Veteran Group have been nominated as Veteran Group of the Year and Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board for the Health and Wellbeing Award. Each of the finalists have shared an incredible amount of time and dedication to ensure our veteran community receives the support and recognition it deserves. In conclusion, the Deputy Leader, on behalf of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, wished to congratulate all those who have been nominated, and passed on her best wishes to everyone at the awards ceremony in July. The Cabinet Member for Resources, Customer and Energy made the following statement regarding Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Coed Ely Solar Farm: The Cabinet Member for Resources, Customer and Energyreminded Members that last January she reported that Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Coed Ely Solar Farm project was shortlisted for the Clean Energy Project of the Year at the National Green Energy Awards, an award which it subsequently won. Further, the Cabinet Member for Resources, Customer and Energy was delighted to announce that the project has received yet more recognition as it has been selected as a finalist for The Welsh Local Government Awards 2026 in the ‘Building Towards a Just and Adaptive Transition’ category. The Cabinet Member for Resources, Customer and Energyconcluded that this recognition reflects the Council’s strong commitment to sustainability and innovation with the project making a real difference. The Cabinet Member passed on her congratulations to everyone involved.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
