The Bereavement Services Operations Manager provided Members with the Statistics and Performance figures relating to the operation of the Crematorium since the last meeting. Members queried the impact of figures following the completion of the Heads of the Valleys Road and requested an update on the maintenance works at Llwydcoed. The Bereavement Services Manager reported a noticeable increase compared to the same period last year. The Bereavement Services Manager further advised that the installation of the generator and the repairs to the cremators have been successfully completed, thereby positioning Llwydcoed Crematorium to commence implementation of a DeNOx system prior to the close of the financial year. Following consideration of the information contained within the report of the Bereavement Services Manager it was further RESOLVED to note the Statistics and Performance in respect of Llwydcoed Crematorium.

RESOLVED: • Note the report; • Note the audited Annual Return for the financial year-ended 31st March 2025; and Note and approve the Period 8 Budget Monitoring Update 2025/26 (Appendix 1).
The Group Accountant provided Members with the audited Annual Return for the financial year-ended 31st March 2025 and Period 8 Budget Monitoring Update 2025/26. Members observed the overspend arising from additional staffing cover but acknowledged the enhanced level of service this arrangement provides. Members were content to continue with the current arrangement and requested that Financial Officers monitor the associated financial impact. Members sought clarification regarding the cost in live streaming of services. The Group Accountant advised that a budget has allocated for this provision, with costs recovered through the service’s fees and charges. It was further noted that the use of live streaming is increasing in popularity, and fees and charges will be reviewed annually to reflect demand. The Bereavement Services Manager continued and acknowledged that services at Llwydcoed now operate an hourly basis, enabling greater functionality from the live streaming provider. Following consideration of the report, it was RESOLVED: • Note the report; • Note the audited Annual Return for the financial year-ended 31st March 2025; and Note and approve the Period 8 Budget Monitoring Update 2025/26 (Appendix 1).
There was no urgent business to discuss.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
