Response by the Cabinet Member: Thank you Cllr McIntosh for your question regarding claims to Powys County Council for damage caused by potholes across the County Council roads. For completeness this does not include trunk roads as Welsh Government have responsibility for those claims. It is important to note the low number of claims that are upheld. The last full year we have on record is for 2024/25. Powys County Council received 138 claims for pothole damage. Of that number, 126 were successfully defended by Powys County Council, 7 were settled for a total of £1,389.41 and 5 cases remain open.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
