Response by Head of Service: Nid oes gan Bowys bolisi AI ar gyfer ysgolion o ran canllawiau i staff a dysgwyr ond cyfeiriwn ysgolion at ganllawiau Llywodraeth Cymru ar defnydd o AI ar gyfer ysgolion. Mae staff Powys yn cydweithio â Llywodraeth Cymru drwy weithgor canllawiau AI i ysgolion sy'n bwydo i mewn i'r deunydd canllaw Cenedlaethol, gan gynnwys templed polisi AI, templedi defnydd derbyniol a deunydd cyfarwyddyd i ysgolion eu defnyddio. Y rheswm dros wneud hyn ar lefel genedlaethol yw ein bod yn gallu cydweithio â Llywodraeth Cymru a'u partneriaid diogelwch arlein yn ogystal ag awdurdodau lleol eraill i sicrhau y caiff unrhyw ddiweddariadau i bolisïau a chanllawiau eu nodi'n gyflym drwy'r ystod o arbenigedd o fewn y grŵp. Cyfeiriwn ysgolion at y canllawiau a'r templedi polisi sydd ar gael ar Hwb, y llwyfan digidol cenedlaethol ar gyfer pob ysgol yng Nghymru. Caiff y wybodaeth hon ei rhannu gydag arweinwyr ysgolion ac arweinwyr digidol ysgolion. Ni chaniateir i fyfyrwyr ddefnyddio offer AI o fewn amgylchedd ysgol, ond mae Powys yn rhannu adnoddau gydag ysgolion i ddysgu myfyrwyr am ddefnydd diogel a moesegol o AI, gan gynnwys: · Sut mae systemau AI yn gweithio? · Rhagfarn AI · Sut gall AI fod yn ddefnyddiol i'n cymdeithas? · Defnydd cyfrifol o AI Dyma rai dolenni i'r deunydd canllaw sydd ar gael i ysgolion: Canllawiau AI ar gyfer ysgolion Templedi ai a pholisi diogelwch arlein Adnoddau AI i ddysgu myfyrwyr Yn ychwanegol at y canllawiau cenedlaethol, ffurfiodd Powys weithgor AI mewn Ysgolion yn ddiweddar sy'n cynnwys aelodau o TGCh Powys, Addysg Powys ynghyd â staff ysgol o ystod o ysgolion yn y sir. Diben y grŵp yw cael persbectif ar y tirlun AI gan arweinwyr ysgolion ac athrawon i sicrhau bod Powys yn gallu cefnogi ysgolion yn ein hawdurdod yn y ffordd fwyaf effeithiol. Mae tîm Arloesi Digidol Powys wedi adeiladu offeryn oedran darllen a gynorthwyir gan AI ar gyfer addysgwyr sy'n darparu dadansoddiad soffistigedig o destun ac sy’n galluogi i addasiadau gael eu gwneud i ddysgwyr ag anghenion dysgu ychwanegol (ADY). Mae hyn yn ail gam y treialon a chafodd dderbyniad da hyd yma. Mae'r un tîm hefyd wedi darparu hyfforddiant a chanllawiau wedi'u teilwra i ysgolion sydd eisiau cymorth penodol ar eu defnydd o AI mewn addysg. Powys doesn't have an AI policy for schools in terms of guidance for staff and learners but we do refer schools to Welsh Government guidance on the use of AI for schools. Powys staff collaborate with Welsh Government through an AI guidance for schools working group that feeds into the National guidance material, including an AI policy template, acceptable use templates and guidance material for schools to utilise. The reason for doing this at a national level is that we are able to collaborate with Welsh Government and their online safety partners as well as other local authorities to ensure that any updates to policies and guidance are identified swiftly through the range of expertise within the group. We refer schools to the guidance material and policy templates that are available on Hwb, the national digital platform for all schools in Wales. This information is shared with school leaders and school digital leads. Students are not permitted to use AI tools within a school environment, but Powys do share resources with schools to teach students about safe and ethical use of AI, including: · How do AI systems work? · AI Bias · How can AI be useful for our society? · Responsible use of AI Here are some links to the guidance material that's available to schools: AI Guidance for schools AI and online safety policy templates AI resources to teach students In addition to the national guidance, Powys have recently formed an AI in schools working group that includes members from Powys ICT, Powys Education along with school staff from a range of schools in the county. The purpose of the group is to get a perspective on the AI landscape from school leaders and teachers to ensure that Powys can support schools in our authority in the most effective way. The Powys Digital Innovation team have built an AI-assisted reading age tool for educators which provides sophisticated analysis of text and enables adaptations to be made for learners with additional learning needs (ALN). This is in the second stage of trials and has been well-received so far. The same team have also provided tailored training and guidance to schools wanting specific support on their use of AI in education.
