Response by Head of Service: Thank you for your enquiry regarding the removal of payphones and telephone kiosks. Please note that it is not the responsibility of Powys County Council (PCC) to arrange consultations on this matter, as all such arrangements fall under the remit of BT. The Council is currently in the process of writing to Ofcom to request a pause in the removal of payphones and telephone kiosks. With regard to the kiosk in Hyssington, the Community Council covering the area would have been notified of the proposed removal in mid-July, when the issue first came to the Council’s attention. At that time, they were advised to make direct representation to BT.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
