Response by the Cabinet Member: We have published detailed information on what happens to kerbside collected materials on our website since 2019. This can be found here. The food waste, while recycled into fertilizer, ends up in a liquid state and is unsuitable for domestic resale, so it is instead sold to the agricultural sector. The green waste is recycled into normal compost, and this can be bought in bulk quantities (skip and builder/dumpy bag amounts) by Powys residents directly from the reprocessor CWM Environmental. However, at present we don’t have any means to redistribute this to residents in smaller typical compost bag quantities. It is something we are looking to do in future though and will update councillors and residents when relevant.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
