Response by the Cabinet Members: Thank you for your follow-up email dated 3rd March 2025. We appreciate your correspondence and understand your concern regarding the completeness of our previous response. However, we would like to clarify that the previous correspondence provided both detailed and comprehensive answers to questions posed. Our intention was to address all points raised and believe that the response did so (response can be found here). It is important to note that at the Council meeting (held on the 20th of February), Cllr David Thomas stated that, Sustainable Powys might, in all probability, make it easier for rural residents to access hubs and localities because of improved transport links. He did not suggest that rural communities receive a better level of service than urban parts of the county. To reiterate the point made in the previous correspondence, the Council's funding model continues to ensure it prioritises front line services and they are delivered equitably and are accessible by all. Council tax is a tax on domestic property, not a direct payment for specific services. It is designed to fund a wide range of local services collectively (rather than being allocated to individual services or wards based on usage). Whilst the town and community council precept element of the council tax bill flows directly to the town or community council, the county council and police elements do not. The funds are pooled to ensure that all residents (including those in rural areas) benefit from the availability of essential services such as social services, education, waste management, fire and rescue services and the police. Thank you for your continued engagement and support.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
