Response by the Cabinet Member: We recognise the contribution a safe, warm community space can make for residents. We established the Warm Space Network in Powys and I am pleased to confirm it has been a successful project working with community organisations and businesses across the County. We are in the process of updating our Warm Spaces Network and we are, thanks to Welsh Government funding, able to offer grant funding to help with costs. Funding can be utilised to establish or re-establish Warm Spaces and add value to those that are already in place supporting the economic, social and well-being of people in Powys. The webpage for the Warm Spaces Directory, including the application form for funding is now live. We have emailed all the previous warm spaces organisations to ask them to re-register and update their information if they are still offering warm spaces. We have added a link and invited them to apply for the 2024/25 warm spaces funding. The funding will support spaces where individuals are provided with a welcoming, accessible, safe and warm environment. These will be more than just warm spaces for individuals to attend. They will be an inviting place to be and will be open and inclusive and available for all in the community to use. Safe and warm places might provide: • basic refreshments and snacks (as a minimum) but may extend to provision of a more substantive meal where possible. • the provision of advice and support services to those who attend, this can be for example advice and support on financial matters, health and well-being or digital accessibility. • further enrichment activity such as exercise, arts or cultural activity (subject to location and availability). Community Transport: In addition we have been advised by Welsh Government that the grant can be used in part for community transport as many people either live in rural areas and/or cannot access transport to the Hubs. Residents should contact their nearest warm space for additional information. Applications open to: • Community/Voluntary Organisations • Village Halls • Community Hubs • Town & Community Council Please share the links below with any organisations that wish to register and apply for funding. https://en.powys.gov.uk/creatingwarmspaces https://cy.powys.gov.uk/creumannaucynnes
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
