Response by the Cabinet Member: Thank you for your questions, the responses are below: 1. The Council’s carbon footprint for 23/24 is currently in the process of being calculated and will be reported to Welsh Government in September. In 22/23 the Councils carbon footprint was 85,702,452kg CO2e. As a Council we have declared climate and nature emergencies and are committed to work towards Welsh Governments Team Wales target for a net zero public sector by 2030. The Council will therefore look to significantly reduce our overall carbon emissions footprint, balancing the amount of greenhouse gases produced by those we remove from the atmosphere. Any residual emissions we cannot reduce from direct intervention will require us to balance through carbon removal measures such as carbon sequestration or the protection and creation of natural environments and habitats. 2. This detail is currently not available. However, the Council is currently in the process of developing a roadmap to net zero. The roadmap will take the carbon accounts and councils footprint and drill down to identify the areas of highest carbon in the Council across our assets, operations, and supply chain. Modelling will be undertaken to define and 2030 target alongside annual emissions reduction and carbon removal targets across scopes 1,2 & 3. The roadmap will develop trajectory maps which can be used by the Council to track our progress and delivery through the Climate & Nature Programme and net zero action plans as part of the Council Transformation Portfolio. The roadmap is to be due in draft format for discussion this autumn.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
