There is no summary of this meeting yet. One is written once the council publishes the minutes. The agenda and papers are below.
Response by Head of Service: Please see below answers to your questions: Weed Control: There was a programme of weed spraying undertaken before the festival and there are plans to retreat over the next few weeks once resource becomes available. Street Sweeping: As above the sweeper was in and around Hay-on-Wye before the festival for an additional sweep to ensure the town was welcoming to visitors and there are plans for the sweeper to attend again over the next few weeks. It will then attend in the winter once the leaves have fallen. Maintenance Schedule: Street cleansing in particular mechanical sweeping which highways undertake would be carried out twice a year. This may increase during the winter months due to leaf fall. We would also react to requests received should there be a need to following investigation. Waste and Recycling are responsible for the day-to-day cleansing and emptying of the bins etc. Gully emptying is once a year and weed spraying is once or maybe twice a year depending on growth and weather. In addition, the Waste and Recycling Service have been asked to enhance the street cleaning (so more than just emptying street bins) in order that the town is kept in a good condition.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
