Response by Head of Service: Diolch am eich cwestiwn ynghylch y Swyddogion Cyswllt Canol Trefi newydd. Pleser o’r mwyaf yw eu cael i gefnogi ein trefi ledled Powys, a’n gobaith yw y byddant yn hwyluso naws cryfach o hunan-gadernid yn ein trefi ar gyfer y dyfodol. Roedd y broses recriwtio ar gyfer y swyddi hyn yn anodd oherwydd natur tymor canolig byr y ffrwd cyllid oedd ar gael, a hysbysebwyd nifer o weithiau dros gyfnod o 8 mis er mwyn recriwtio ar gyfer pob un o’r swyddi. Er hynny, mae dau o’r Swyddogion Cyswllt Canol Trefi’n gallu siarad Cymraeg, er ar lefelau gwahanol. Lle bydd gofyn i aelod o staff sy’n gallu Cymraeg fod yn bresennol ar gyfer unrhyw gyfarfodydd, ac nid oes un ar gael, byddwn yn defnyddio arbenigedd cyfieithwyr y Cyngor i gefnogi’r cyfarfodydd hyn, i sicrhau fod pob grŵp yn derbyn y cymorth angenrheidiol. Thank you for your question regarding the new Town Centre Liaison Officers. We are really pleased to have them onboard supporting our towns across Powys and hope they will help to facilitate a stronger sense of self-resilience in our towns for the future. The recruitment process for these posts was difficult due to the short fixed-term nature of the funding stream and the advert went out several times over a period of 8 months to recruit in to all the posts, however 2 of our Town Centre Liaison Officers have the ability to speak Welsh at differing levels of ability. Where it is necessary for a Welsh Language member of staff to be included in any meetings, and one isn’t available, we will use the expertise of the Council’s translators to support in these meetings, to ensure that the groups get the support they require.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
