Response by the Cabinet Member: Many thanks for your question of the 7 January 2024. The pupil admission number (PAN) for Cradoc C.P. School is currently 25 per year group, equating to a 175 across the school. The pupil numbers on roll as of 8 January 2024 are 82. Building capacity is calculated using the standard spreadsheet as included in the Welsh Government guidance measuring-the-capacity-of-schools-in-wales-circular.pdf (gov.wales). Headteachers are required to provide information about the room usage across the school to the Schools Estates Team, this information is then input into the pupil capacity calculation spreadsheet and the output is the capacity of the school and pupil admission number (PAN). The draft pupil capacity and PAN is then returned to the headteacher for their consideration and agreement. Any change to the PAN is then included in the next annual School Admissions Consultation. In agreement with Judith Morris, Headteacher, the Schools Estates Team completed works in late 2019 to provide a new SEN unit (room ref: A033) , classroom (Room ref: A015) and toilet facilities (Room ref: A034) to the school. If A015 is removed as a classroom and included as the hall space 63.3m2 and 27.7m2, then the revised capacity of the school with these changes and the points raised calculate the pupil capacity at 158 and an admission number of 22, versus the current published admission number of 25. Schools are able to request a review of their pupil capacity at any point and this message was reiterated to schools in December 2023 at the Headteacher Conference. The Schools Estates Team will make contact with the headteacher to discuss and progress a review of their pupil capacity.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
