Response by the Cabinet Member: The Cross Party Working group is made up of a selection of local members, town councils and business representatives, representing a cross section ranging across the political spectrum, the geography of Powys and a mix of urban / rural stakeholders. I feel that the membership of the group does offer a good balance of all these aspects. In terms of membership of the working group, I committed that the working group should be limited to around circa 25 attendees; and this was to ensure, and to enable a positive, active communication and engagement across the themes of the working group over a short time frame. We have 30 members now to include some critical voices we felt were needed. It has unfortunately not been feasible to include representatives from all Town and Community Councils, but please be assured that democratic members are well represented in the working group and have been selected based on historic and recent interest shown in improving the service we deliver. The first meeting was held on the 26th October 2023, and I look forward to working with group over the coming months, before taking the report to the Scrutiny Committee. The members of the group are well informed, innovative, and more importantly very committed to providing a full review of all car parks across Powys. We run 38 Pay & Display Car Parks and 39 non-Pay & display car parks in Powys.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
