Response by the Cabinet Member: Thank you for your question on the progress we are making in relation to your motion to full Council regarding greater clarity around home to school transport but also, and very importantly, greater flexibility for parental choice where there would be no resulting additional cost to the Council. As you will appreciate, officers from the Transport Service have been assisting officers from the Schools Service with their recent admissions policy and school catchment review. Now this has been agreed by Cabinet, we need to review certain parts of the school transport policy to try and ensure that the admissions policy and transport policy align. It will be during this process we will consider how we make the school transport policy more flexible. We are working closely to enable officers to apply the flexibility in a consistent manner across the county. As you may also be aware, a change to the school transport policy will need to be approved by Cabinet a full academic year before the implementation date.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
