Ysgol Penmaes If schools are either a Condition ‘A’ or ‘B’ then the backlog maintenance is not calculated, this is only estimated for Condition ‘C’ and ‘D.’ None of these schools are currently Condition ‘C’ and ‘D.’ Addressing backlog maintenance stops further deterioration of elements of the building maintaining their status quo addresses backlog maintenance like for like. However, building element improvements (e.g., roof, windows, flooring) might be necessary to achieve Condition grade ‘A’ and thus meet current legislative standards. These improvements for schools are captured in the Schools Major Improvements annual capital programme. The programme of individual school condition surveys feeds into this capital programme.
