Response by the Cabinet Member: The works in Newtown are not works promoted or funded by Powys County Council. The works were for a private contractor to provide a connection to the SWARCO chargers that have been installed as part of a Transport for Wales programme of introducing a rapid charging network across Wales. Aside from licencing SWARCO to use the car park, the Council have no direct involvement in this. Further information can be seen at TfW appoints SWARCO UK Ltd to deliver 21 electric vehicle rapid charge points . I can advise that Powys County Council were not required or requested to be on site the day in question and that all the necessary streetworks approvals were in place. The issue you have raised are solely down to SWARCO and their contractor who employed the services of the Essex based traffic management company.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
