Response by the Cabinet Member: Thank you for your email in respect of concerns about the council receiving ‘best value’ when disposing of its assets. The Property team are required to obtain best value when disposing of assets and it does this in several ways. The use of the PCC website and Zoopla commercial are the primary advertising channels, both of which have proven to be cost effective and provide a high level of enquiries. The team have considered utilising Zoopla residential previously, but the cost of subscription was not affordable based on the volume of sales anticipated at the time. This will of course be reviewed regularly by the team. External Agents are also used to market properties who do utilise various online property sites including Zoopla residential for example.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
