11 Beaufort Square Chepstow Monmouthshire

East Mon are undertaking a refurbishment of No 11 Beaufort Square. The Grade 2 listed property, located in the centre of Chepstow fronting the High Street, has been vacant for 12-18 months. The proposed development will see a material change of use of the first floor from Class A2 (Financial and Professional Services) to Class C3 (Dwellinghouse), to provide a one one-bedroom flat. The proposal is confined to the first floor. No alterations are proposed to the principal external elevations, and the existing windows, shop front and other external architectural features are to be retained unaltered. The first floor is recorded as having been in residential use at an earlier date before its more recent use as an estate agent's office (Class A2).

Have your say

This application is waiting for a decision, so you can still comment. Say whether you support or object, and why, sticking to planning matters. Comments go to the council and are usually published.

Only planning matters count in a decision: things like the look of a building, traffic, noise, overlooking, loss of light, and the council's local development plan. A fall in the value of a neighbouring home doesn't count, nor does who the applicant is.

Where it has got to

  1. Application received

    Done

The council checks the application is complete and gives it a reference number.

  2. Consultation

    Done

The council tells neighbours and others, usually with a site notice or letters. Anyone can comment, usually within 21 days.

  3. Decision

    Now

Most applications are decided by the council's planning officers. Larger or disputed ones go to the planning committee, where councillors decide in public.

  4. After the decision

    To come

If permission is refused, the applicant can appeal to Planning and Environment Decisions Wales. Other people can't appeal, but can comment on an appeal.
