There is no summary of this meeting yet. One is written once the council publishes the minutes. The agenda and papers are below.
Councillor Fouweather asked: Dear Leader I have received a number of calls from residents who are concerned about the loss of the Marks and Spencer food hall in the City centre. There are a number of residents who use the hall on a regular basis as they do not have the means to get to the Spytty Store. Can you tell if you or a cabinet member or indeed a council officer have had any conversations with Marks and Spencer with a view to keeping the food hall open. This Food Hall is absolutely vital to many residents in my ward who are bitterly disappointed at its loss Councillor Batrouni responded: I would refer you to the response provided to Cllr Al-Nuaimi (QAAT ref: 2026-20) which asked the same question. The only update to add is that the Chief Executive and Head of Regeneration and Economic Development have also met with representatives of M&S. Unfortunately, the decision of the company to close a number of food halls nationally, including the Friar’s Walk store, is final.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
