There is no summary of this meeting yet. One is written once the council publishes the minutes. The agenda and papers are below.
Councillor Fouweather asked: Many councils are now sharing resources such as chief officers. Can the leader tell me if this has been explored in Newport with neighbouring local authorities? Councillor Batrouni responded: As you will be aware from the answer you received in March (ref 2025/05) We have a range of services shared with other Councils. Some are short term, but many are long-term. These include: • Gwent Crematorium • Regional Adoption Service • Regional Out of Hours emergency service for children and adults • Waste disposal - Project Gwyrdd • Treatment of municipal food waste • Trading standards - hosting a range of all Wales activities • Parking enforcement administration • Digital and IT – SRS • Internal Audit – SWAP • Some info services – range of LAs Senior officers at all levels also work collaboratively with senior officers at other local authorities across a range of partnerships to discuss and develop opportunities for collaboration and sharing of resources where appropriate.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
