There is no summary of this meeting yet. One is written once the council publishes the minutes. The agenda and papers are below.
D Fouweather asked: I would like your thoughts on this matter. Do you think it would be worthwhile supplying dog waste bags near bins at certain locations where dog walking is a frequent activity. This should help reduce the amount of dog waste that we have on our streets. I know that at least one community councils supply does this. I would be grateful for your thoughts on this and whether it is feasible. Y Forsey responded: The council has a high number of bins distributed throughout all streets, parks, and open spaces in Newport, making it convenient for dog walkers to dispose of waste appropriately. Dog owners in the UK are legally responsible for clearing up after their dogs and ensuring proper disposal of waste. The extra cost to taxpayers of providing stocking and replenishing bags citywide is not something that could be justified. We encourage responsible behaviour among dog owners to keep our public spaces clean and pleasant for all.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
