There is no summary of this meeting yet. One is written once the council publishes the minutes. The agenda and papers are below.
Councillor Reeks asked: It ss pleasing to see the ongoing renovation works of the Mon & Brecon canal through Rogerstone, and welcome the next stage of these works in the form of the desilting and relining. Residents however have raised concerns about the impact on the wildlife and fish during these renovations, noting that fish are potentially dying due to overheating in the shallow water. Can the Cabinet member confirm what steps are in place to protect them and what assurances can they give that there will be no long term damage to the wildlife and fish during this next stage of works. Councillor Forsey responded: The Canal works are carried under supervision, following an ecology assessment and where necessary have an ecologist watching brief. Where necessary fish and amphibian life is relocated whilst works progress. Sections of the canal have historically dried up over summer and the renovation works should help to prevent this from happening in the future.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
Declarations are read from the minutes once they are published.
